[A day or two into May's Iris cycle, Tarrlok will receive a message from a very excited...and very different-looking Colress. His Moonblessing has finally revealed itself, as he has a smattering of electric blue markings underneath his eyes, and more noticeably, his hair is completely translucent and floaty like the body of a jellyfish.]

Mr. Tarrlok! I have made an astounding discovery that I believe you'd like to know about! Do you recall our discussion of elemental affinities gained by our Moonblessings? It appears that I have gained an affinity with electricity while under Iris' influence!

[He raises up his free hand to provide a demonstration. Immediately noticeable is his lack of wearable console- it's the first time Colress has spoken to Tarrlok without it. Instead he's wearing his black turtleneck undershirt with the sleeves rolled up. But he's not wearing the console for a reason. His hand to his elbow is entirely translucent as well, revealing a deep blue void where his muscles and bones would be. Instead, flecks of gold can be seen floating inside...eventually joined by the zigzagging of weak electric currents that make their way to Colress' fingertips.]

I am still experimenting with them, and do not yet have full control over when they go off. But I fully intend to find a way to make the best use out of them while Iris continues its cycle!

[OH, HUH. You know, Tarrlok had been kind of wondering how the recent newcomers he’d met had been fairing with the most recent bout of moon stuff, especially since it had been kind of a shock to the system the first time, but well... they had been the first batch, after all. Very little could probably actually prepare you to change into a weird animal hybrid, though...

Admittedly, he did kind of get the impression that if anyone was going to enjoy the actual effects of the transformation on a scientific level, it’d be Colress, so he’s kind of amused when he responds...]

I kind of had a feeling you’d enjoy seeing how this stuff actually plays out firsthand. I think I heard something about Iris having an electrical association, which is kind of strange to me since back home you don’t just have people who can bend electricity... it’s something that’s connected to firebending.

It certainly gives you an interesting look, though. Do you feel alright? I hear Iris can be a little rough for reasons that don’t entirely have to do with your skeletal structure going, erm, strange.

[Indeed, Colress is having a great time with his biological changes. He's practically giddy, which is definitely more him just being himself.]

Is that right? This seems to fall more or less in line with what I am familiar with in terms of Pokemon types. Electric-type Pokemon exist, much like my Magneton and Rotom, but there are hybrids as well. Rotom itself can become both Electric and Fire-type, for example.

[He gains something of a warm smile when asked about his well-being.]

I am doing fine, but thank you for asking. Physically speaking, my body is still completely functional despite the changes. [He flexes his fingers to show that yep, there are apparently still bones there. Or something similar to them, at the very least.] I experienced some mild sleep deprivation on the first night due to my body exuding bioluminescence in the dark, but it is nothing that a sleeping mask couldn't handle.

Oh, I see. It's more of an exclusive relationship between fire and electricity, though... all people who can bend electricity are firebenders, but not all firebenders can bend electricity.

In any case, though, I'm glad you're doing alright. ...and that you haven't just turned into... just a jellyfish or something, given that someone brought that up as a possibility.

[also like, none of the really aggressive horniness that can only be cured by boning a whole lot.]

Oh, I see! It is an even more exclusive affinity than one of the main elements. Interesting...

[Gosh, he really wants to sit down and talk more bending with Tarrlok sometime. It has some interesting "rules" to it!

He chuckles at the mention of going full jellyfish.]

Indeed, that would be most unfortunate! It would be very difficult to get any work done if I were confined to a tank for several days. [Or y'know, like...drowning on dry land.] But yes, I will consider myself fortunate that my changes appear to be on the milder side so I am able to document them unhindered.

[Oh honey, you've got a big storm comin'.]

Bending can be funny like that. Then again, it’s interesting from my perspective to learn that things I expect to be intrinsically linked just aren’t, too.

And... yes, it would. Fortunately, I haven’t heard of anyone going full jellyfish, but it’s something I can’t help being concerned about. In any case... just let me know if you end up needing anything. We all kind of have to look out for each other here.

Most certainly! I find the discussion of similarities and differences between worlds to make our stay on Prismatica all the more enriching. Bending is one of the more exciting concepts I've come across thus far.

[Because seriously...people having powers like that is the coolest shit. He's so thrilled to have gained something similar of his own, if only temporarily.]

Oh, yes. Learning about other worlds is definitely one of my favorite parts of being here, even if I'm not that scientifically inclined.

Anyway, things usually go alright for me... though, I do have an increased appetite when my cycle rolls around, so maybe I'll just ask you for any restaurant recommendations you may have. If things go poorly, I'm sure you can just... poke a button with a tentacle or something.

[While Colress is more than qualified to know a fishy app when he sees one, that doesn't stop him from actually clicking on the icon of an eerie eye when it mysteriously makes its way onto his communication device. He wants to get to the bottom of this, because he sure as heck didn't install it!

Needless to say, once all the spooky nonsense finishes up, he wasn't expecting to find another person on the other end of the line. Did his chat app get distorted by a virus or something? Well, it seems to have put him through to Tarrlok, so there could be worse consequences.]

Ah, Tarrlok! While this call wasn't intentional, I do find it rather convenient. Have you discovered a strange application on your device as of late? I am in the process of sorting out a way to remove it...

["There could be worse consequences", he thought. Well, he hasn't seen the question just yet, let alone the one directed at him. As Tarrlok takes in the situation, he'll see the question pop up just above Colress' head:

Did you conduct unethical practices as the leader of Neo Team Plasma?]

[...huh? well, that's weird... but it's Colress, so he's not going to be too upset about it! Though, uh, when he hears it's connected to the weird mystery app...]

You know, I'm almost hurt that this wasn't intentional... [okay he's done teasing.] Yes, I have, actually. It's a little unsettling, so I haven't really messed with it, but...

[He kind of trails off, his friendly demeanor... faltering a bit. You know, he kind of remembers Team Plasma, vaguely. They're kind of like the Equalists, right? Didn't Colress talk about them like they were, uh, garbage?

Hm.

Hm?

...meanwhile, on Colress's end, the question that will pop up over Tarrlok's head reads Who taught you how to bloodbend?]

[Colress flashes a brief smirk at that little jab.]

I will make up for it with an intentional call as soon as I get to the bottom of this.

[He then falls silent to let Tarrlok give his answer. He's initially pleased to hear that Tarrlok hasn't gotten too deep into it since he has no idea what this thing is capable of just yet, though he's not going to have to wait very long to find out. Soon enough, something's definitely amiss.]

Tarrlok? [He doesn't let the awkward silence linger very long.] Did something happen on your end?

[Just as the words leave his mouth, the question appears. His gaze moves upward...and his eyes narrow in confusion. Bloodbending? That sounds ominous. Is this...is this about Tarrlok?]

...Did you receive a question?

[oh. Oh fuck. When Colress asks him that, his expression blanches a bit, because if he’s getting a question about what are presumably sordid secrets of his friend’s then...

...well, he was probably going to find out at some point, wasn’t he.]

...yes, I did. It’s somewhat-

[OH FUCK SOMETHING GRABBED HIS LEGS]

-argh, what in the name of- what is going on?!

...Ah.

[Colress mutters, as a sinking feeling settles into his stomach. He doesn't like where this could be going, and he wishes this could have happened under different circumstances.

—very different circumstances, as it turns out. Those sure are ghostly hands reaching out from his desk chair. They pin him down with ease, and no amount of struggling budges them.]

W-What—?!

[And it looks like he isn't alone in this. Tarrlok's under attack as well.

He inhales sharply, trying to push his newly-spiking anxiety down. He needs to keep his cool, or- Well, he doesn't know what could happen, but it can't be anything good.]

Tarrlok, I believe- I believe it's the application.

[But what could this mean? Do they need to read the questions? Well...if Tarrlok really got something about him, he wants to clear it up as soon as possible. So he'll be the test subject.]

What is the question on your end?

[...there’s no point in struggling, is there? Just some damned haunted nonsense for the two of them to deal with. Wonderful. Just.... great.

Tarrlok lets his limbs go slack and lets a frustrated hiss of a breath escape through his teeth.]

Of course it’s the application. Is there anything on this planet that isn’t haunted? Anyway, the question it’s making me ask you is...

[...he hesitates before asking, because does he really want to hear the answer?]

[It isn't the fact that this haunted application somehow knows the parts of his past that he had kept locked away that gets to Colress. It's the fact that Tarrlok had to unlock it like this.

His silence speaks volumes, but his expression really seals it. Colress has never looked quite so ashamed in front of Tarrlok before.

He takes a deep breath, ignoring how rigid he has become in contrast to Tarrlok.]

I have no intention of lying. [...] After Ghetsis' first failure to seize control of Unova, he contacted me and requested my aid in realizing his desires. He wanted me to take control of Team Plasma's remnants, and develop technology to help him finally bring Unova to its knees, by any means necessary.

[Considering what he has said about Ghetsis and Team Plasma, there is no possible way he could've agreed to this though, right?]

I saw a once in a lifetime opportunity laid before me. Long had I searched for an answer to my coveted research: What brings out the most power in a Pokemon? Ghetsis intended to capture and use a very powerful Pokemon to aid in his destruction, and I was to enhance it with science.

I accepted his request.

[Once she knows which villa he's staying in Tarrlok will receive a visitor. Maybe he's out when she drops by, and a roommate accepts it in his stead, but either way.

A folded card sits atop a nicely wrapped box, tucked beneath an colorful bow. The note reads:

I haven't been in touch lately as often as I could, but I hope the season is treating you well. Stop by for a drink sometime, on the house, for old times sake.

Happy Firialia, Starlight, or I guess whatever it is you'd normally celebrate back home!

Inside the box Tarrlok will find a hand made coat, the color and style of which she clearly took a page from his book on in terms of guesses for preference. This is what happens when you have a master level weaver for a friend. Happy holidays, bud!]

[How fun it has been to get to celebrate a Prismatican holiday away in a cozy little village! Though he initially felt a little antsy to be away from his work for so long, Colress was quick to loosen up and enjoy his time with Tarrlok and his friends that came along for a village getaway.

Thankfully there was a lot of advertisements about Firialia leading up to the day itself, so Colress has come prepared with gifts! Tarrlok receives his personally on the morning of Firialia as they are enjoying their morning coffee.]

It is to my understanding that gifts are typically given on this day. [With a smile, he pushes a meticulously-wrapped gift across the small bistro table to Tarrlok.] Happy Firialia, Tarrlok. I do hope you enjoy it!

[Said gift is a cookbook! To be specific, it is a book on Prismatican cuisine. All locations that they have visited are included! Tucked within the front pages are some hand-typed Unovan recipes, just as Colress promised that he would provide.]

[Ah, what a pleasant time it had been! Honestly, this felt like a proper vacation, even if he hadn’t really been doing anything too strenuous in Prismatica. It was the principle of the thing, you know? A change of scenery that didn’t require some weird transportation method was always welcome in Tarrlok’s book, especially since he got to spend the holiday with Colress.

And, you know, of course he was paying attention to the holiday mood, so of course as Colress began to reach for his gift, Tarrlok reached for his own gift to hand over to Colress.]

And a happy Firialia to you too, Colress. I hope you get plenty of use out of it even when the weather clears up a bit back in the city.

[When Colress unwraps his present, he’ll find a box with a soft, fluffy hat with a certain degree of temperature control baked in, because it’s Prismatica. Though, he’ll kind of spoil it as he’s opening his present and watching Colress open his...]

I was told it was guaranteed not to give you hat hair, but you’ll have to be the judge of that.

[It's such a pleasant surprise that Tarrlok also had a gift at the ready. How fun it is to get to exchange gifts like this!

He does start to get an idea of what the gift might be as Tarrlok speaks about it while he unwraps it, but it doesn't completely ruin the surprise. He grins and immediately slips it on. His hair is currently down so he's not too concerned about hat hair for the time being, but he wants to see how comfy it is.

It is very, very comfy.]

How wonderful! It is very charming. I cannot wait to give it a proper test run.

Ah, so I see you picked something that’d benefit you, too. Very clever of you, Colress. Though, that hat looks as good on you as I expected, so I can’t say I didn’t have similar motives in mind...

[Colress gains a Deerling in the headlights sort of expression, and just as quickly his face heats up in embarrassment. Can he just pull the hat completely over his face...]

W-Well...I suppose I cannot claim complete innocence! I am very fond of your cooking. [He's made that pretty obvious throughout their time spent together.] But I do promise that my intention was not completely self-serving. You seem to have gotten a cooking bug as of late, and I thought you might like to experiment!

[Experiment! Get it? Ahaha...]

[continuing from here since the post is like two months old now and to keep things fresh, Tarrlok will see that they are now able to speak privately at this point so that people on the network won't be snooping, even if he is still "anonymous" here]

Now we can converse further without it being on a public forum.

As such, I would like to ask if you could talk a little bit more about these "family problems" that you spoke. At least, as much as you are comfortable with discussing on the subject, so that I can make sure I don't make any wrong assumptions about what the best possible course of action would be for you here.
