No, it’s fine, really. A hot cup of tea is usually appreciated after working with ice, even if it’s unflavored.
[He’ll pick up his cup and take a sip.]
...and yes, everyone is certainly forward here, aren’t they? I suppose different cultures have different views on sexuality and intimacy, but I can’t say I’ve seen anything as intense as this.
[Hearing that puts him at ease enough to not worry about whether or not serving plain tea was acceptable to his guest.]
No? Where I am from these things are spoken about and engaged in openly. My family on the other hand was quite...traditional. I discovered things a little later in life.
[He's not sure why he's sharing that, but takes a sip of his tea to stop himself from oversharing. Though the other man did see him disrobed, so perhaps that supersedes everything? But it wasn't the least bit intimate, at least.]
Why would I mind? After all, it’s more fun to have someone you can have a decent conversation with. I’ve nevet really understood the more conservative types who can’t get with the times in that regard.
[At the very least, the Northern Water Tribe was getting better about that... but man, was Republic City ever a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways.]
I'm not sure if they have it where you're from, but it's a Northern Water Tribe food called akutaq. It's kind of like ice cream, except we use various kinds of animal fat instead of cream and it can be sweet or savory. Though... you can use vegetable shortening too, I suppose, but I don't like that as much.
[At least the high end stuff uses real seal fat! It's good stuff!]
But yes, coffee is a fairly good pair for sweets, if you ask me.
Well, it does depend on the environment, I suppose. Back in the Northern Water Tribe, we tend to keep things like that behind closed doors, but Republic City can be a little bit looser depending on what company you're keeping.
I don't think it's quite as extreme as putting intoxicants in chocolate that make you really want to hold people's hands, though.
[...well, uh, he's. He's sure he can get out of this alive but.
Anyway.]
Oh... no, I meant that back home, well... I've seen plenty of normal cats and dogs around, but we also have polar bear dogs and cat deer and that sort of thing. But... well, I suppose I can't confirm or deny, can I?
Akutaq. [ Which he repeats curiously, head tilted and does his best to image what such a treat could look like. He's right on the mark but he chooses to stay mostly silent to listen to description. ]
I'm glad you think so. [ it makes him happy to hear! that he's found someone else who may enjoy coffee as well? ] But yes, you're right that we don't have that where I'm from. It's the first I've heard of something like it.
See? Nothing wrong with being a little adventurous, is there?
[ He, for one, finds all of this to be quite entertaining. Interesting, too, and there will be plenty of more serious things to address later; for now, though, there's no harm in having a little fun. ]
Might as well show ourselves friendly and do like the natives do.
You might be able to ask the Moon Knights if they have any extra weaponry? I really don't know what sorts of things they'd be able to provide or if they're even willing, but they seem to be the authorities here.
