Why would I mind? After all, it’s more fun to have someone you can have a decent conversation with. I’ve nevet really understood the more conservative types who can’t get with the times in that regard.

[At the very least, the Northern Water Tribe was getting better about that... but man, was Republic City ever a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways.]

Relationships tend to be about how one person makes the other feel. From your point of view, intellectual conversation may be simulating. From another perspective, that may be construed as a discomforting threat.
