[Tarrlok nods along... though, really, this "spiritual cosmology of the world" business isn't his wheelhouse at all. He probably should pay attention, though, because he'd rather think about that than spend any more time thinking about all the stuff Korra dumped on him about his future, which... this change of subject has caused him to cool off a bit, but he's still wrestling with the idea of whether to actually believe it or not.]
Honestly, given how much of a penchant he had for backstabbing, I'm not particularly surprised he tried to backstab basically the entire world. If anything, I'm kind of surprised he didn't try and stab this Vaatu in the back...
[Cooling off is good, apparently talking about her stupid uncle is a good way for both of them to cool off... For now.]
He might have tried to backstab Vaatu on the wrong moment too for all I know and that's why they looked so different than me and Raava... [That wouldn't surprise her, not that Raava is anything like her counterpart in anything else than similar looks.] But most likely that's just showing him that he went way too far in his greed for power. Oh, but he backstabbed his so called friends at the Red Lotus by letting them go to prison while he covered all of his involvement with them to do the whole Dark Avatar thing later.
...you know, I would say “He was involved with that?” and try to pretend I was shocked, but no. I can actually believe he was teamed up with that bunch and then threw them into a busy intersection because it suited him better. I think the only way you could surprise me would be if you said he sacrificed his life for his children or something, which I am absolutely sure he didn’t do.
[Admittedly, Tarrlok had only gotten really vague details about that whole thing in the first place since it was supposed to be pretty hush-hush, but like. Damn, Unalaq.
...
Actually, you know what, now he’s curious.]
So I’m sure you learned about the big scandal that happened with your father at some point, right? Was that a setup? There were a lot of rumors about it being a setup, but it wasn’t exactly the sort of thing you wanted to gossip too loudly about or try to dig into if you actually wanted to achieve anything.
